WILSON WALTER WELLSFRY Born June 22, 1920 to Walter and Edna Wellsfry in Chico, CA and raised in Paradise with his 7 younger brothers. He passed peacefully at Twin Oaks Rehab in Chico on March 16, 2017 at 96 years old supported by his family. "Willie" as he introduced himself to others, graduated from Chico High School. After serving two tours of duty with the US Army before and during WWII, the veteran attended trade school in Chicago and learned the art of sign painting and illustration. Upon returning to Chico, he married his beautiful and supportive wife, Twila Chmelka, and worked for Wellsfry Sign Company, which he would eventually run and own. Wilson enjoyed his work, appreciated all types of art, cooking, boating and water skiing on Lake Shasta and Oroville, boat building, Chico Rod and Gun Club, reating, trailer camping, gardening, wood working, and fixing everything with anything around. He was a member of the Grace Baptist and Evangelical Free Churches in Chico, and at his core he loved to serve others and his Lord Jesus Christ. The family expresses their appreciation to Enloe Hospital, Sycamore Glenn, and Twin Oaks. Wilson is survived by his beloved wife Twila of 66 years, son Stephen, daughter-in-law Kathleen, granddaughter Rachel Wellsfry, grandson Benjamin Wellsfry, and youngest brothers Howard and Ralph Wellsfry. Wilson was preceded in death by his younger brothers, Bob, Frank, Gene, Ward and Jack. Memorial services will be held at 2pm, Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Evangelical Free Church in Chico.
