DANIEL RYLAND ARBUCKLE Dan passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 with his daughter by his side in Olympia WA. He was 87 years old. He was born in Chico on May 1, 1929 to Ensign and Gladys Arbuckle. Dan lived his life in Chico except for the two years he served in the US Navy, an in Nov 2015 due to failing health he moved to Olympia, WA with his daughter. He graduated from Chico high school in 1947. He joined the Navy in 1948 and served on board the USS Coral Sea. On Dec 1, 1949 he married his high school sweetheart Marilyn Shaw, they were married 63 years when she passed away in 2012. Dan worked as a hotel clerk for The Park Hotel in Chico, a clerk at Miller's market in Chico and he delivered Wonder bread to Paradise, Magalia and Sterling City for 32 years. Dan and Marilyn bought a cabin in Mineral after he retired and they loved spending time up there. Dan loved all sports, vacations to the ocean, and camping trips with family and friends. Dan was an avid deer hunter and he also loved fishing for trout. He was a member of the Chico Elks for 56 years, and he was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Chico. He is survived by his son Vernon and wife Maria of Tracy, daughter Diane and husband Lester of Olympia, WA, 2 granddaughters, Amanda Harvey and husband Barry of Ogden, UT, Stacey Boehmer and husband Brit of Aurora, CO, 1 grandson David Peikert, 2 great -grandsons Cannon and Kash Harvey of Ogden, UT, sister Helen Wertz of Magalia, sister- in -laws, Doris Arbuckle of Chico, Elsie Arbuckle of Forest Ranch, and many nieces and nephews who adore "Uncle Danny". Visitation will be Friday June 10, 2016 from 5pm to 8pm at Brusie Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Saturday June 11, 2016 at 1pm at the Chico Cemetery, followed by a reception at The First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
