Margaret Elizabeth Atwood Minney
CHILLICOTHE: Margaret Elizabeth Atwood Minney, age 91, of Chillicothe, died Friday, 3:25 p.m. July 5, 2013 at Traditions of Chillicothe, following a yearlong illness.
Margaret was born November 13, 1921, in Cologne, Germany to Raymond and Elsie Dorner Atwood. Margaret married Arthur E. Minney on January 11, 1945. They divorced in 1963 but remained friends, especially in later years.
Two children were born to this union, Arthur Michael (Teri) Minney, of Chillicothe and Melissa Ann (Edward) Beck, of Sparta, TN.; she is also survived by a grandson, Ian Eric Minney; and a great-grandson, Nicholas Minney.
Margaret was a licensed Cosmetologist for 44 years and was the owner/operator of the Curlette Beauty Shoppe at 45 ½ East Main Street, Chillicothe for over 40 years.
She committed herself to social causes, volunteering at Chillicothe Hospital and later Adena Regional Medical Center (over 4000 hours), Athens County Foster Grandparent's Program (over 10 years) and the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association of Athens County (over 6 years). Margaret loved reading, especially mystery novels, and had a library card for many years. She was a regular at the Northside Library and had a great relationship with the Staff. She loved word Scrambles and crossword puzzles. She was a great scrabble player and loved words and the English language. She always had a hunger for self improvement. Although it seemed a bit out of character, Margaret was an avid NBA fan for years. Go Figure!
Margaret was a member of the Church of Christ and participated in Bible Studies at Hopeton Village, where she resided for over 20 years. She was fiercely independent, very private and had no interest in materialism. She will be missed by friends and family.
A private graveside service will be held at the Grandview Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.

Sorry about your mother's passing, Mike. I always enjoyed the
Conversations with her when I would run into the two of you on
Your shopping trips. She was an interesting lady. In a way, she
Reminded me of my mother. Both were feisty old girls.
