Paul Kemper Obituary

Paul C. Kemper

CHILLICOTHE: Paul C. Kemper, son of the late Arthur C. and Rachel Beekman Kemper, made his final journey to his Eternal Home on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at his residence in Chillicothe, surrounded by his family.

Paul was born in Waverly on September 16, 1937 the fourth of six children. He was united in marriage on December 9, 1957, to the former Dorothy Alice Oyer, who survives; also surviving are two daughters, Alison DiMola of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Stephanie (Russ) Conaway of Chillicothe; seven grandchildren:

Erin Paige Conaway of Chillicothe, Molly DiMola of Greensboro, Zachary Paul DiMola of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Roger Thomas, Rachel, and Matthew Ryan Conaway of Chillicothe, and Jeremy (Maria) Conaway of Columbus; also surviving, in addition to his mother, are two sisters, Betty Clark and Naomi Hoffman, a brother, Roger, all of Waverly; and his brother-in-law, Larry (Betty) Oyer of Chillicothe, and sister-in-law, Marilyn (Oyer) Inkel of Green Acres Florida. Paul is also survived by his beloved Burmese, Bartholomew, and his grand-dogs, Princess, Eli, Rebel, and Molly Dog.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, brothers: David and Richard; and son-in-law, John DiMola.

Paul loved all of God's creation, and in addition to his cat and grandchildren's dogs, he especially enjoyed feeding the squirrels and birds and other wild-life which frequented his home on Taunton Road, located in front of a golf course. He also loved flying, having earned his pilot's license, and was a former soldier in the United States Army Reserve. Paul loved history and early American poets and poetry, being especially fond of the works by John McCrae and James Whitcomb Riley. Paul worked alongside his father for many years as a millwright at Alcoa (Wear Ever) Aluminum in Chillicothe and was a member of the New Covenant Church of Christ in Christian Union in Waverly.

Paul will be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was never too busy to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and taught those closest to him what the concept of "unconditional love" truly means. He always shared a smile, could make anyone laugh, and had a positive outlook on life.

Graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on October 2, 2012, at the Evergreen Union Cemetery on Bridge Street in Waverly, with the Reverend Richard Humble, who led Paul to the Lord in 1972, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of BOYER FUNERAL HOME, Waverly, OH.

I met Paul years back at a WearEver company picnic at Long's Retreat. He worked with my husband Roger. We raced go-carts there and he was our fierce competition! What fun we had that day! He truly knew how to enjoy life! Prayers to the family. May your memories always keep him close.
