Howard M. Cutright

Chillicothe - Howard M. Cutright, 88, of Chillicothe, passed from this life at 1:10 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Signature Health Care Center of Chillicothe following an extended illness.

Howard was a devoted husband, father, and friend to many. He was born September 27, 1929, in Chillicothe to the late Howard E. and Helen Mallow Cutright. On April 27, 1952, he married the former Naomi Jean Bethel who preceded him in death February 3, 2018. They had been married for 65 years. From that union they had 3 children, Missy (Paul) Fogt, of Tallahassee, FL., Becky Cutright, of Newport, KY and Nathan (Sara) Cutright, of Chillicothe. Also surviving are brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Ginnie Mark, of Bainbridge; nieces and their husbands, Linda (Paul) Wooldridge, of Circleville, Diana (John) Kotnik, of Groveport, Kathy (Mike) Benson, of Chillicothe and cousin, Norwin Cutright, of California. He is also survived by his beloved cat, Cody.

Howard was an avid sports fan and loved horse racing. He also loved to hunt and fish and had the opportunity to play professional baseball for the Columbus Redbirds before going to work at the Goodyear Atomic Plant. He retired after 45 years as Superintendent of Security. Howard and Naomi had the love for dancing and danced many nights away on the weekends.

He was drafted into the Army in 1951 and was discharged with the rank of Corporal in 1953. During his military service, he was an MP and pitched baseball for the U.S. Army.

Many heartfelt thanks to Signature Healthcare and Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to our father. The family wishes to recognize that Howard was baptized on June 11, 2018 by his son.

Howard's going home service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2018 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Alfred Marcus and Daniel DeGarmo officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday.
