James Gordon Lloyd Obituary
James Gordon Lloyd

- - James Gordon Lloyd, age 93, passed away peacefully in his home on August 7, 2018. He was born on July 30, 1925 to his parents John Lloyd and Sarah "Jenny" (Mace) Lloyd in Ross County. Gordon was one of 13 children and growing up in The Great Depression helped to form the values and work ethic that he carried proudly. He was a graduate from Kingston High School, and served honorably in the United States Air Force for two years in which he was stationed in Texas and trained foreign students on maintenance of the planes. Gordon retired from Dupont after 34 years of loyal service as a maintenance supervisor. Dupont was also where he met his adoring wife Kathleen, marrying her on December 20, 1984. They spent 33 wonderful years of marriage together, time they both enjoyed filling with travel and just being with one another. Gordon served as President of the Kingston School Board, and he actually gave Zane Trace their name; an accomplishment he was very proud of. He served a total of 13 years between Kingston and Zane Trace school boards. He also thoroughly enjoyed his work of 15 years with Healthcare Logistics. Gordon was also a talented Trombone player, and even had the privilege of marching with Ted Lewis. He continued to serve his country as a Commander for the Ross County American Legion; and lived his life a loyal Democrat. He was a member of the Community Methodist Church and enjoyed sharing his love of the Lord with his fellow man. Gordon loved fishing, camping, and just enjoying God's gift of nature; but above all else, Gordon loved his family. He was a man who lived as an example for all of us to follow; filling each day of his 93 years with love, laughter and hard work.

James is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jesse (Dorothy) Silas, Robert (Virginia) and Edward (Jane); sisters Beatrice ( Alfred Gartner, Dave Schreiber), Francis (Ernie Kempton), Kathryn (Don Freidli), Sarah Jane (Higley), Mildred (Clark) Wickensheimer, Mary (Leroy Shoemaker), Helen (Martin Hall), and Lois (Joe) Bernard; his step daughter Jackie Cook; his infant daughter Kathy; as well as his beloved dog Miss Daisy.

Left to mourn his passing is his devoted wife Kathleen (McCloud) Lloyd; his children Gordon (Liz) Lloyd, Deborah (Tom) Hutchinson; step children Gregory (Brenda) Beard, Rita (Rob) Cox, Rhonda (Jay) Skomra; as well as 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and his loyal dog Toby.

Visitation will be held at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, located at 151 East Main Street Circleville, on Saturday August 11 from 4 to 7. Visitation will also be held an hour prior to the funeral service. Gordon's funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 12 at 2pm with Pastor Tad Grover officiating at the funeral home. Per his wishes, cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to The , The Pickaway County Senior Center, and The Pickaway County Dog Shelter; all of which Gordon was passionate about.
