CIRCLEVILLE: Long-time Columbus radio personality, John Fraim, 90, died August 28th, 2016 at the VA hospital in Dayton, Ohio. John was born March 28, 1926 in Indianapolis and was most recently residing in Circleville. He was best known as the morning radio personality on WTVN in the 60's and 70's.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his son, John, and wives Miriam and Vicki Fraim. He is survived by his two sisters, Lucy Achgill and Maryland Cladwell, and children, Steven, Stephanie and Amy. He was proud of his grandchildren, Kate, Jonathan, Scott, Mickey and Lily, and great-granddaughter, Alexis.

John served in WW II as a radio operator on a B-29. He raced sports cars, and was an avid spelunker. He was a prolific writer and was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize three times. John was one of three men who founded the Air Force Museum Foundation in Dayton. He was honored for that achievement by the Secretary of the Air Force this summer.

As the morning radio personality at WTVN, John secured the highest ratings ever recorded for Columbus radio, a record that still stands today. John came to Columbus from Dayton in 1960 and became the News Director, and a few years later, the host of the morning show. He is remembered for the thousands of special reports that he wrote and delivered each morning.
