Warren K. Schrake Obituary
Warren K. Schrake

Reynoldsburg - Warren K. Schrake, 97, of Reynoldsburg, entered his eternal reward on Friday, February 9, 2019 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born April 30, 1921 in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late Clifford Gilbert and Alma G. Wolford Schrake. On March 31, 1946, he married the former Cora (Betty) Cutright, who survives.

He is also survived by his daughter, Donna Schrake Kagy, granddaughter Amy (Rae) Whitlock and great-granddaughter Zoe Patrice Whitlock, all of Blacklick and a sister, Norma Schrake of Chillicothe. He also leaves behind brother-in-law John (Lois Marie) Cutright, Chillicothe and sisters-in-law Grace Weaver of Ft. Myers, Florida, Carol Haines (Alan Cox) of Chillicothe, Mary Workman of Commerce, Georgia, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Virginia Magill, Rosemary Swaney, Shirley Rose, Janet Burton, Betty Schrake and Nancy Jones; and by brothers, Earl, Junior, Fred and Ernest Schrake.

Warren was one of "the greatest generation" and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in the South Pacific. After the war, he became an aircraft mechanic at North American Rockwell, where he was assigned many special projects, including those in California, Hawaii, Washington state and Florida. He retired from Rockwell in the 1970s. He was a loving man who was devoted to his family and friends. He had a green thumb and was proud of his flowers and vegetable gardens. He could fix just about anything around the house and had a gentle and compassionate spirit. He was a member of Reynoldsburg Baptist Church for 67 years and could always be counted on to help with many building projects over the years.

The family extends a special thanks to Warren's friends, family and church family, as well as the Palliative Care team and Hospice staff at Mt. Carmel East Hospital for the love and support shown to our family during this time.

Friends and family may call Thursday, February 14 from 5-7 p.m. at the Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. in Columbus. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 15 at 10:30 am at the Reynoldsburg Baptist Church, 887 Rosehill Road, with Pastor Steve Cavanaugh officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour before the service. Please visit www.schoedinger.com to offer a condolence or share a memory of Warren.
