Charles Boyer Obituary

Charles "Craig" Boyer, 86, of Converse passed away June 28, 2021 at his home with his family at his side. He was born Jan. 9, 1935, in Spencerville, Ohio the son of Robert and Mary Craig Boyer. On March 24, 1957, Craig married his wife and helpmate of 64 years, Nancy Douglass Boyer and she survives.

Craig was a lifelong farmer. He was always busy doing or overseeing the business of the land: plowing, planting, sowing, reaping, watching things grow from seed to harvest. Craig was honored in 1972 as the Star State Farmer of Indiana. He was also a kind and friendly man who was a source of help and knowledge to countless people. Craig was committed community servant. He was a former member and past president of the Oak Hill School Board, served on the Miami County Council , as well as having been a County Commissioner for seven years. As a young man he served in the US Army 9th Engineer Corp in Germany, helping rebuild bridges and buildings destroyed in WWII. His military decorations include the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Ribbon.

Craig's family was his greatest source of pride. He led by example, demonstrating the value of hard work, generosity, and love of life. He was a devoted husband, beloved by his three children, and adored by ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Craig lived a life of Christian faith. He was an active member of Amboy Friends Church where he served faithfully. All who knew him immediately recognized his reverence for God and love for the church. This legacy of faith in action now allows him to enjoy the glory of heaven.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Nancy are his children John (Carole) Boyer, Sue (Robert) Dulmes, Mark (Rachel) Boyer; his grandchildren, Christina (Geoffrey) Wyrick, Andrew (Elizabeth) Dulmes, Matthew Boyer, Missy (Dan) Miller, Nathan (Rachel) Boyer, Abbie (Willis) Brookshire, Samuel Boyer, Hannah Boyer, Elizabeth Boyer and Jack Boyer; great-grandchildren Lance, Garrett, James and Rose Wyrick, A.J. and Annie Dulmes and Weston Brookshire; as well as several nieces and nephews. Craig was proceeded in death by his parents and brothers Bob, Herb and Gerald Boyer.

Visitation will be July 6, 2021 from 2 to 7 P.M., at Amboy Friends Church. A service to honor and celebrate this life well lived will be July 7th at 10:00 A.M. at the church. Craig will be laid to rest in Park Lawn Cemetery, Amboy, IN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Amboy Volunteer Fire and EMS Dept.
