Elsie Stein Obituary

It is with deep sadness & a sense of peace, that we announce the passing of Elsie Stein, our beloved, mother, nana, sister & friend. She passed away peacefully at home on May 4, 2011 at the age of 87. Born March 10, 1924 in McMinnville, Oregon she grew up as a child in Watcomb. Leaving home at 16 she held various jobs before becoming a cookee in a bush camp & met the love of her life Wesley Stein. They married in 1946 & moved to Upsala where they raised their family for 18 years. Thunder Bay has been her home since 1962. Travel & her numerous crafts brought her hours of joy, as did her love for flowers. Other talents included musician, singer-lyricist & author playing the guitar and writing several songs for her family's enjoyment. She took the time to write her memoirs so her family could remember the way it was. This was something very important to her. Survived by her beloved brother Roy Lindenhoff, son Bill Stein, daughters Pearl Bender (Bob), Eleanor Bunch (Steve), Donna Donohue (Stan) & stepchildren Ken & Joan, other relatives to numerous to mention. Blessed with 7 grandchildren Tom, Wes, Shelby & Ashley Bender, Cole Hluchman, Devin & Nick Donohue & 7 great grandchildren. Her family was her first interest & major concern.
