It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Ronald “Ron” Kehl, at the age of 70, at home peacefully in his sleep on June 8, 2019. Ron was born in Port Arthur, Ontario on April 27, 1949 to Irene and Hub Kehl. He married the great love in his life, Simonne in 1974; they were married for 44 wonderful years and together they raised their son, Mark. They enjoyed their date nights, travelling, life and laughs together. Ron had a long career with Saskatchewan Wheat Pool until his retirement in management at the age of 50. In his retirement he enjoyed time spent solving the worlds problems with his buddies at the curling club, visiting Tarpon Springs with his Pilon family, most recently wagon rides and spending lots of time with the light of his life, his grandson Henry. He loved hockey in the elevator and men's commercial leagues, watching the Chicago Bears and the Boston Bruins. His passion above all was golf. He shared this love with his son, Mark. He was a competitive golfer, enjoyed playing his whole life and was proud to play the ProAms with his son. Most recently, as John Valley's guest in May this year, he was able to enjoy a trip of a lifetime to Scotland to play St. Andrew's, completing his bucket list. Many knew him for his gentle spirit, quick wit and good sense of humour. Though he wasn't handy, he sincerely tried. Ron lived a full life with no regrets and was a friend to all who met him. Ron is survived by his best friend, wife Simonne; son Mark, daughter-in-law Laura and grandson, Henry; sister Bonnie; brother-in-law Ray Pilon, sister in-law Jane, his special girls, nieces and god-daughters Maddy (Mike) and Joelle (Troy); other nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his mother and father, Irene and Hub Kehl, brothers Ted and Glen. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at a later date. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, June 25th at Port Arthur Curling Club (214 Egan St), starting at 4:00pm. Should friends desire, memorial donations to ProKid's or TBRHSC-cardiac unit would be appreciated.

To Simonne and Family
Sorry to here of Ron's passing. Every time I had come back home over the years to Thunder Bay, and have run into Ron from time to time at Strathcona and it was like time had stood still. He never changed , still with a perma grin on his face, and a friendly comment. I always looked up to Ron as a well grounded individual who everyone gravitated to. My heart goes out to you .

Last January I had the chance to have a drink with Ron at the PACC and he jokingly asked if I could still run the pass routes from Lion Football. I told him I certainly could if he could give the quaterback and extra 4 minutes of protection...cracked him up. A quiet and polite guy all his life ...never angry but certainly competitive. He will now be getting in a few rounds with his friend Mark Shushack. My mother always enjoyed him coming to the door when he delivered flowers from Rollasons. Current River has lost a son...my deepest condolances.

Simonne, Mark and family:
I am so grateful that Ron chose to join our travelling squad and come to St Andrews. It was such a privilege to share that special place with a great friend. On that trip, he met a wide range of folks from Scotland and elsewhere. Some snippets of their comments back when I advised them of Ron's passing:
"a decent and unpretentious man"; "a decent, strong and humble guy who was enjoying life"; "a gentle, friendly man who was enjoying the Town of St Andrews, the golf and the experience"; and "a thoroughly decent human being". Over the years, we knew him as a clubmate at Strath, as a fellow competitor who understood the integrity of sport and the intensity of competition, and as a friend. While he'll be missed on all fronts, it is his friendship that I and others will miss the most! Your are in our thoughts.

Sorry to hear about Ron's passing.
I have many great memories growing up on Flora beach fishing with Ron and his Dad on their boat, Hubs Tub.
There were also many, many days that Ron and I hitchhiked to the Strathcona Golf Course. We played until 5 pm and then walked to the Dairy Queen where my father,Bud Auringer would pick us up and give us a ride back to camp.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family,
