Dr. Gary Michael Gleeson

Dr. Gary Michael Gleeson, passed away peacefully in Toronto on April 2, 2003 after a short illness. Born in Fort William on May 17, 1935 to Zip and Lorne Gleeson, Gary was the second of their five children. During his youth, he and his siblings, known as The Five Gleesons acrobatic troupe, entertained audiences in the city and region. He also performed with the "Tumbling Dominos' and was on the football team while attending Fort William Collegiate. While being treated for a sports injury, he became interested in the healing principles of chiropractics, which became his life long profession. He moved to Toronto to attend the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC), from which he graduated in 1959. Gary's love of the chiropractic profession was soinfectious, both his brothers Dan and Rod were inspired to follow his lead (then each of their children). His brothers returned to practice in Thunder Bay, but Gary remained in Toronto where he instructed and was Clinic Director at the CMCC for awhile, then ran his own chiropractic clinic for 35 years. Not yet retired, he was still treating patients up until his illness, for helping heal people is what he loved to do. Predeceased by his parents Zip and Lorne Gleeson, Gary's presence and laughter will be sadly missed by his wonderful, loving wife Mila & kitty Molly (Toronto); his children Cindy (Paul) Kennedy, Kelly (Greg) Arnold and Lorne (Natalie) Gleeson; his grandchildren Adriann, Shaun & Sarah Kennedy, Amanda & Ryan Gleeson and Cole Arnold; his brothers and sisters Rod (Marissa) Gleeson, Dan (Ione) Gleeson, Fay (Rob) Steadwell, Bryer (Sig) Wanecki (Peace River, AB) and Jean Jones-Arthurs; his many nieces and nephews; and his patients and friends. A memorial service for Gary is being held in Toronto on April 13th. Interment of his ashes will be in Thunder Bay, along with a family memorial, at a later date.
