George Goodwin Obituary

On Monday March 13, 2005 George passed away after a long courageous battle with cancer. His wife Betty and family were with him. George was born in Brandon Manitoba where he received his undergraduate degree from the University of Brandon. He furthered his education at the Faculty of Education in Winnipeg. He started his long teaching career in The Pas Manitoba coming to Fort William Collegiate in 1958 where he taught until is retirement in 1978. George was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. A Christian gentlemen he lived his beliefs in his daily life. He passed these virtues to all his family, and to the many young people he taught throughout his career. He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife of 60 years Betty, a son Derek, daughter Barbara and husband Dr. John Faccia, grandchildren Kate and Jill Faccia, Craig, Jenn and Michael Goodwin and great granddaughter Hannah Prendergast. A private family service of remembrance will be held later in the week. George was predeceased by his parents, and his sisters Eva, Margaret, and Pearl. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations in George's memory be made to 'Save the Children Canada'."
