Nancy Harper Obituary

It is with great sadness the family of Nancy Katherine Harper (nee Kaszor) announce her peaceful passing at age 76 on June 27, 2018 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with her family by her side. We lost a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Nancy was born in Port Arthur now Thunder Bay on November 16, 1941 to Fred and Ann Kaszor (nee Dowhoszya). Nancy is survived by her loving and caring husband Alan who will deeply miss her. He was her rock. She was a wonderful mother to her children Ronald (Kathy) Shilliday, Bonnie Chimenti, and Alan's son Glenn (Annette) Harper and family. Nancy will also be missed by her grandchildren Victor (Megan) and Patrick Chimenti, her sisters Marilyn (Don) Perry and Freda Brown and families, step-mother Ann (nee Downey) and her children, sister-in-law Diane (Ed) McLean and brother-in-law Bob (Gale) Harper and families. Nancy was predeceased by her parents Fred and Ann Kaszor. She was an avid reader and appreciated the beauty of gardening. In earlier years she grew her own flowers in her greenhouse. Nancy enjoyed watching her favourite baseball team, the Toronto Blue Jays, and enthusiastically cheered them on. Nancy mostly loved being with her family. On Christmas Eve she conducted the family singing (on and off key) their favourite carols with gusto. Nancy enjoyed her weekly exercise classes with the girls and her lunches with the CN pension group and her dear friend Mary. Nancy was an active member of the Thunder Bay Multiple Sclerosis Society and was named MS Mother of the Year in 2007, a title which she was proud of. MS was a disease that she fought gallantly and did not let it get the better of her. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Slovak Branch #129 Ladies' Auxiliary. A private internment will take place at a later date. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Northern Cancer Fund.
