Peter Symonik Memoriam

February 24th, 1938

Remembering the 20-year loss of our loved one. May all know in our heart how very sadly he's missed and how much others care when today would be his 83rd Birthday.

Life is a journey
of sweetness and sorrow
of yesterday's memories
and hopes for tomorrow,
Of pathways we choose
and obstacles we face
With patience and humour,
courage and grace.
Of joys that we've shared
and of people we've met
who have touched us in ways
we will never forget.

About Work

How's work Dad?
He responded multi-tasking and cutbacks.
How about you, Susan?
Then I said it's a comedy –
just like the Larry Sanders
and Rip Torn show.
He laughed. “no guests and missing content”

About Music

My Dad surprised me one day when I was ten years old when he played on the piano at home perfectly by memory
Rubenstein's Piano Concerto II. I had no idea he knew how to play the piano. I was so
impressed I began practicing the Third Mvt. of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata at top speed. My generation knows this music from The Smurfs when Gargamel is
chasing after them.

Showing wisdom to
my father today:

It was already written in
William Shakespeare's
Literature to do my life
a second time better.

I lived next door to Jim on Leith Street and he befriended me even though I was 6 years younger than him. I used to hang out when he was on his ham radio , we even drove out to Silver Islet in little old car for a ham radio gathering. it was pitch black out and pouring rain but everyone was having fun. I also remember when he started on CKPR as Peter James , I think doing late news and DJ. That was mid Fifties . Good memories of Jim
