Peter was born in Fort William, Ontario on April 7, 1953, to parents John and Jutta Mrowiec and sister Sonja . During his youth, Peter attended local schools and in 1972 he graduated from Churchill High School. In the fall of 1973, while studying at the University of Guelph, Peter met his future wife, Cheryl. In 1978, he graduated from the photography program at Conestoga College and on August 26th, 1978 he and Cheryl were married at St. John's Anglican Church in Thunder Bay. Following the completion of his Bachelor of Arts degree at Lakehead University in 1982, Peter attended Osgoode Hall where he received his Law degree in 1985 and was subsequently called to the Bar in April of 1987. Peter began practicing law that year and opened Peter Mrowiec Law Office as a sole practitioner in 1990. Following this, he became certified as a specialist in criminal law by the Law Society of Upper Canada.Peter's most joyous life events were the birth of his 4 children, Brendan in 1982, Jordan in 1985, Kathleen in 1986 and Meghan in 1990.Peter was a member of council for the Ontario Bar Association, and previously served as their Director for the Northwest Region. He was also a member and past director of the Criminal Lawyers' Association of Ontario as well as a member and past director of the Thunder Bay Law Association.Peter was always on the go. From photography, to yoga, to cooking, cross country skiing, flying, kayaking, and travelling; he was truly a fearless modern day adventurer. He could always be found with a smile on his face and ideas of his next adventure forming in his mind. He was a friend to everyone. He will be sadly missed but always fondly remembered.Peter's love of flight began as a young teenager with his first flight on a friend's bush plane in Kapuskasing, Ontario when he was 13 years old. Recently Peter earned his pilot's license bringing him one step closer to fulfilling his lifelong dream of owning and flying his own plane. On Thursday August 30th, 2012, while living his dream flying his new plane over Nephi, Utah, Peter died when unfavourable weather conditions caused his plane to crash.He is survived by his parents John and Jutta, his wife Cheryl, his children Brendan, Kathleen (Dieter Kreps), and Meghan (Charlie), his sister Sonja (Mike Crawford), his parents-in-law Joyce and Sam Langila, sisters-in-law Shelley (Stan Siedlikowski), and Mary Dohan, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews . He was predeceased by his son Jordan in 1985.The family invites you to a celebration of Peter's life on Saturday September 8th at The Valhalla Inn.
