Ron Heimbecker Obituary

Peacefully on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 Ron Heimbecker of Winnipeg passed away at the age of 71 years. Ron was predeceased by his mother Elizabeth in 2000 and his father Charles in 1979. Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife Irene, three daughters Beth Heimbecker (Neil Chow), Jane Panting (Dave), and Tracy Heimbecker (Pierre Vroom), his sister Verna Hilsendager (Luke), grandchildren Elizabeth, Christopher, Renee and Derek as well as many nieces and nephews. Ron was born on a farm near Springwater Saskatchewan in 1933. He came to Winnipeg in 1957 where he met Irene and they married in 1958. Ron worked for 25 years at National Cash Register before beginning a new career with Lutheran Life Insurance in 1981. He retired in 2001. Ron believed strongly in the importance of community and made many friends over the years through the various groups to which he belonged. He was very involved at Messiah Lutheran Church and his faith community played a large part in his life. He had many close friends including his neighbours on Manitou Bay, his golfing partners, the Lutheran Life Group and St. Andrews Anglican. Ron always maintained a zest for life and an appreciation for the grace of God that brought him each new day. He enjoyed each moment to the fullest and was at his most happy when spending time with his family. Ron's sense of humour was a staple of his daily life and he loved to use it to stimulate conversation. Ron's passing will leave a large void in the lives of all who knew him. The family wishes to thank the staff at Grace Hospital 3 North for their compassionate care. The family also wishes to thank Pastor Carol of Messiah Lutheran, Drs. Sheila & Oscar Domke, Neil Bardal and all our friends and family whose thoughts, prayers, and good wishes have sustained us in this difficult time.A memorial service celebrating Ron's life will be held on Saturday March 26 at 2:00 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church 400 Rouge Road.
