It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Edward Philip Forget on Monday, January 18th, 2010 at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital. Phil passed away peacefully with family by his side. Phil was born on September 22, 1942 in Heron Bay, Ontario. He was the first son of Edward and Georgette Forget. He spent his childhood years in Heron Bay, and later moved to Marathon where he lived for the remainder of his life. In 1963, he was employed by American Can of Canada Ltd. as a handyman and in later years as a shift supervisor in the wood yard. He retired from Fort James in 1997 after 34 years. In 1965, he married Martina Cote and together they had four children. Phil had many friends and in his younger days enjoyed hanging out at the Snake Pit, moose hunting, camping, and working in his garage. In 1984, he married Linda Draper and together they had two children. In 1994 he and Linda founded Phil's Septic Pumping Service Inc. which he took great pride in. Phil was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time on his boat with his family. He also enjoyed playing guitar, working in his garage, and socializing with his close friends. He was pre-deceased by his father Edward (Eddie) in 1980 and his mother Georgette in 2008. He is survived by his six children Patricia Nickerson, Robert Forget, Lisa (Peter) Reslinski, James (Melanie) Forget, Kelly Forget (Jasen), and Ashley (Lee) Riendeau, and siblings Patrick (Janice) Forget, Patricia Palubiski, Barbara (Brian) Markle, John (Tina) Forget, Keith (Patti) Forget, and Michelle (Orlan) Brubacher. He also left behind 10 grand children and 1 great grandchild (John, Jeffrey, Kayla, Jarren Kristi, Zackery, Jessie, Travis, Hannah, Sarah, Kiana ) and numerous nieces and nephews. Phil was loved by many and appreciated the help and friendship of Roger Hamilton, Mike Zavitz, Mitch Donaldson, Boyd Keown, Darcy Coughlan, Brian Draper, and the rest of the Draper family. He will be missed by these and many more people who he was friends with over the years. A special thanks goes to the doctors and nurses in the Intensive Care Unit at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center. A memorial service in honour of Phil will be held on Sunday, January 24th at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's United Church in Marathon, Ontario.
