It is with heavy hearts the family of Maurice Turpin announces his passing at St. Joseph's Hospital, Hospice Unit on Thursday, September 8, 2016. Maurice was born in Grand Remous, Quebec on June 17, 1935. He married Lorraine (Morais) on June 9, 1958. Together they raised 3 children as well as many foster children throughout the years. Maurice was a compassionate man with a gentle spirit, and a caring, loving heart. Maurice had numerous jobs in his lifetime; Bush Worker, TV Repairman and Trucker; driving for Lafarge was his last job, retiring in 1999. Maurice was happiest tinkering in his garage, creating many wood-working projects, or fishing on the many lakes of Northwestern Ontario, especially Dog Lake. Maurice and Lorraine loved travelling in their 5th wheel to Texas, Florida and Arizona. Maurice will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 58 years, Lorraine; son Ron Turpin, son Mike (Loretta) Turpin, grandchildren Devin and Leah (Mike Nazvesky) and daughter Julie (Peter) Groombridge, grandchildren Shanna (Karl) Skogstad and Jayden Groombridge as well as great grandchildren Claire and Jude Skogstad. Maurice had a special relationship with nephew Roger (Carla) Goulet. He is survived by brother Rheal (Shirley) Turpin and sisters Lillian Runge and Aline, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Maurice was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Flore Turpin and in-laws Albany and Estelle Morais. The family would like to thank the nursing staff of the Hospice Unit, for their exceptional care and compassion, the Canadian Cancer Society volunteer drivers for assisting in getting Maurice to his appointments, Lynda Rousell of CCAC for listening and helping the best way possible, staff of CCAC Caron and Diana, Shebba and George, Maurice and Lorraine's special friends and Dr. Davis for ensuring Maurice was comfortable during his final hours. “Thank you Big Guy”. In honouring Maurice's wishes, there will be no funeral service, but the family hopes you will keep Maurice in your thoughts and prayers.

Goodbye Uncle Maurice. I will miss you always. You were such a kind gentle soul. Who knew how talented you were with your wood work. I loved going fishing with you.
You loved your family and would give your shirt off your back for anyone.
There's a special place in heaven for you. My Mom and Dad were waiting at the gates of heaven. You're in a place with my parents having fun like the good old days.
It makes my heart warm inside to be able to have seen you one last time. I love you mon oncle. Je t'aime beaucoup. Xoxo
