December 17, 1957 –
July 7, 2021
It is with the heaviest of hearts that our families announce the passing of our beloved Dad, Grandpa (Papa), Brother, Uncle and friend. James Albert Elliott died at his home on July 7, 2021 at 10:27am, at the age of 63 years old. The world lost a great comic and a loving father, grandpa (papa), brother and friend! James was born in Espanola, ON on December 17, 1957 to Stella Elliott (nee Marki) and Albert (Bert) Elliott. In Dad's time growing up in Espanola he liked to play many sports. This included playing football for the Espanola High School Football Team as a Lineman. In fact, November 4, 1976 the Espanola Spartans won the Football Championship 41 to 21! Dad was proud to be part of that! Dad also enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, golf and many other sports. In 1979 Dad moved to Thunder Bay, ON. He worked hard at the Bowater Paper Mill and was an excellent provider for his family. Away from work in Dad's adult life he enjoyed golf, baseball and was a superb Duplicate Bridge player. Dad attained his Silver Life Masters by travelling to many tournaments. Dad went to play Bridge in Duluth MN, Winnipeg, Toronto, Las Vegas and Hawaii to name a few. He played with many great friends and reached his goal of a Silver Life Master. Dad cherished every moment he had and loved all five of his granddaughters, whom he loved whole-heartedly! Dad would pick his granddaughters up from school and took them to ALL of their sports activities. Dad was at every birthday, T Ball, skating, swimming and many other family events. He had a light in his eyes each time he saw each and everyone of his girls! He was proud to be the ONLY man in the family! He always joked he was "surrounded in strong-minded "Females"! Dad has three sisters and two daughters and five granddaughters. Dad was predeceased by his parents Stella Elliott (Marki) and Bert Elliott, as well as several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his daughters Sabrina Elliott Ree (Kevin), Aileen Abramyk (David), granddaughters Hayley, Keyanna, Juliana, Sophia and Lucia. Also surviving are his sisters Pauline McColman, Stella Patterson (Dave) and Colleen Poliquin (Robin). Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at the Valhalla Inn in Thunder Bay, ON in Ballroom 3 at 3:00pm on July 24th, 2021. Guests are asked to wear a clear mask and to follow all COVID protocols. Should friends desire, donations in memory of Jim may be made to the Canadian Hearing Society.
We will miss you!
