I was sorry to find that my Chief Of The Boat (COB) from the USS Haddo had passed to eternal patrol. Chief Grenade was a kind and friendly man, always had patience with me even when I didn't deserve it. He was a great COB and fellow sailor. He and his wife were also very hospitable - I had visited his home and had my first taste of fresh craw-daddies when they lived near New Orleans while the Haddo was at the end of her yard period in Pascagoula. Rest In Peace Chief.
The photo below shows Chief Grenade to extreme right as the Haddo left the Panama Canal into the Pacific.
