John Martin, 81, of Homosassa died on April 29, 2018. His son, Michael, step daughter, Cherie, and wife of 32 years, Meredith, were at his side. He was born on November 13, 1936 in Taunton, MA. His parents were the late John and Louise Martin. He has 4 bothers, Paul Martin (Nola) Arthur Martin (Betty), James Martin and Daniel Martin, deceased, (Linda).
John was a Director of Operations for 31 years at Lockheed Martin both in Orlando and in Switzerland but said his most rewarding "job" was as a volunteer handicapped ski instructor in Colorado after his retirement.
John ran unsuccessfully as the Democratic candidate for Florida House of Representatives District 42 in 2000. His platform included the right of teachers and students to a safe, secure learning environment. He was endorsed by the Orlando Sentinel and many other newspapers. He was not endorsed by the NRA.
John proudly served in the United States Navy.
John leaves a loving memory with his wife, Meredith; daughter, Debora Tallio (Kris); son, Michael Martin (lifelong partner John); stepson, Gregory Martin (Debra); step daughter, Cherie Hansen (John); and step daughter, Loire Bennett. He had 10 grandchildren who he loved dearly, Justin, Lauren, Morgan, Erin, Austin, Quinn, Stephanie, Piper, Jackson and Sawyer. They will remember the many card games and Clue with Grandpa. He also leaves his beloved collie, Mandy and kitty, Trouble.
