Marjorie J. (Silk) Connell of Crystal River, beloved wife of Richard G. Connell died Sunday, April 11, 2021 at HPH Hospice House in Lecanto, FL.
Marjorie was born on October 5th, 1945 in Arlington, MA to George and Sophie (Morwicka) Silk. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings George Silk, Mary Ritchie and Patricia Canniff. She is survived by her husband Richard Connell of Crystal River, brother John Silk and wife Marilyn of Lexington, NC, sister Kathleen Goodwin and husband Roland of Citrus Hills, FL, and several nieces and nephews.
Margie was a Catholic Nun from the age of seventeen to twenty four years in the order of Sisters of the Holy Spirit and Mary Immaculate, San Antonio, TX. She went on to obtain her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, TX. She later taught school in an exclusive Episcopal Parochial School in Georgia in addition to being a Licensed Real Estate agent in Georgia. After returning to the Boston area, Margie and her niece Cindy owed and operated a children's boutique, Clown Around, in Arlington, MA. Later Margie worked at Boston University in the positions of Administrator in the Danielson Institute, Administrator in the Occupational Health Department and Registrar of the School of Theology.
She married Richard Connell, also a Boston University employee, on April 18, 1998 and they would have celebrated their 23rd anniversary on April 18, 2021. Marjorie and her husband moved from Exeter, NH to Citrus Hills, FL in July of 2005. They have both remained NH licensed Real Estate Brokers during their time in Florida.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 10AM, at St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Lecanto, FL. Family and friends may gather at the church at 9:30AM. Donations may be made to The American Irish Club in Lecanto, FL, Day Star Life Center in Crystal River, FL or the charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Brown Funeral Home & Crematory.
