Mark McClendon transitioned to Spirit on April 13, 2021. After a long illness cared for at home by family and Vitas Hospice, his human experience ended. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Patty, his brother John, step-children Megan Storm (Roger) and Marty Thompson (Sydney), Grandson Ryan Colpoys and his beloved niece Lakshmi Pirez (Diana) and nephews Stacy McClendon and Lynn McClendon. His mother Barbara preceded him in death by one year on February 29, 2020.
Mark was born in Los Angeles, California in 1957 and raised in Tampa, Florida by his mother, Barbara and grandmother, Pearl. His important accomplishments in life all originated with God and he learned forgiveness, patience, tolerance and compassion, loving-kindness for all people. He was an excellent listener and you always felt accepted in his presence, he let you know you mattered. A man after God's own heart and he came pretty close.
He wished to thank the men who embraced him when he moved to Citrus County in 2011. He was welcomed and accepted by the men at Floral City Methodist Church and New Hope Methodist Church, something he didn't expect being a long haired, motorcycle riding fellow. He came as an outsider and was welcomed and accepted by these very loving congregations. God also provided him with a select group of special men in recovery who guided his spiritual journey in ways that increased his love or all of humanity.
Mark would want to thank you all for journeying with him and encourages you in your own journeys. God Bless us All.
