Jean Morey Obituary
Born June 29, 1927, in Oak Park, Illinois, to Carl Adolph and Lillian Florence (Brown) Wuerfel, Jean moved to Beverly Hills in 1971 from Bradenton, Florida. She was an accomplished artist with a master's degree in fine art, master's degree in illustration, bachelor's degree in art and was a member of the Nature Coast Painters.
She is survived by William Morey; her children Susan M. Dei, Nancy M. Haynes, Kenneth W. Morey, David R. Morey and Peter A. Morey; one sister, Betty Armstrong; one brother, Bill Wuerfel; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Private cremation will take place under the direction of Brown Funeral Home and Crematory in Lecanto, Florida. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. Monday, April 20, at Brown Funeral Home in Lecanto.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jean's memory can be made to Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, P.O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Today I came across what appears to be a pen/ink drawing in a charity store that caught my eye. I noticed a small label on the back of the frame that reads `Custom Framing by Weber Glass Inc - Jean W. Morey with a phone number and an address in Crystal Lake, Florida.
Anyway, it´s a lovely drawing and it´s possibly a print rather than an original drawing, but I don´t know and I don´t want to take it apart to find out.
It´s in either a Chinese or Japanese style - similar to an old wood block print style.
I googled for some info and this is where I ended up - I have absolutely no idea how it came to end up in Nelson, New Zealand, but it looks really nice on my study wall.
I´m very sorry to hear about her passing and have enjoyed reading the tributes to her.

I lived with the Morey family for several months in 1975 and, during that time, Bill and Jean became like a second Dad and Mom to me. Janet and I got to visit with Jean just a few days before she passed and she was still as full of enthusiasm and focus for her art and painting as she ever was. We are so saddened to hear of her passing, but are so happy to have known this caring, intelligent and talented woman. We will miss her always.

Wow. I didn't come down to FL this winter and so I didn't see Jean. What a role model for positive thinking and lifelong learning. She was so excited about her masters degree work and so enthused about art...and humble enough to care about what you were doing as well. She was a 20 year old on the inside. I'm sorry for her loved ones and friends to have lost such a special force in their lives.

Jean was a remarkable woman who loved her family very deeply! She treated me as family from the day I met her. Her talent for art was amazing, and the world lost a great soul! I loved her and will miss her.
