Robert Mannella Obituary

Robert A. "Bob" Mannella, 88, of Beverly Hills, FL passed away August 2, 2018 at his residence in Beverly Hills. He was born in Wilkensburg, PA on November 19, 1929 to the late Felix and Mildred (Donatelli) Mannella. Bob served our country honorably in the U.S. Marine Corp and Marine Corp Reserves being stationed at Marine Corp. Cherry Point Air Station N.C., and aboard the U.S. Aircraft carrier Palau VMF 122 Group 14 as a member of the Marine fighter group. He was Roman Catholic by faith, and a retired Pennsylvania registered Professional Engineer.
Bob was President and CEO of Tower Corp., the oldest and largest Architechtural/Engineering Corp. in Western Pennsylvania, employed from 1949 until 1992. He served as Vice President of Western Pennsylvania Professional Engineering Society, and was a member of the American and International Illuminating Engineering Society. In 1986, he received the GUTH International Illuminating Engineering Society award for design of the Mine Safety Company Advanced Appliance Laboratory and Computer Center. He was voted Western Pennsylvania Engineer of the year by the Electric League of Pennsylvania in 1988, and conducted seminars to graduating engineers from the University of Pittsburgh in Professional Engineering ethics. Bob served as President of the Hampton Township Athletic Association and was the founder and president of the Beverly Hills Outback Nine Pin Bowling League.
He arrived in this area in 1992, coming from Allison Park, PA, and in his free time enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and playing cards. He was preceded in death by one son, Mark R. Mannella in 2016. Bob was the beloved husband of Rita Pachera Mannella, with which he shared 65 years of marriage. He was the loving father of David G. Mannella and his wife Ann of Slidell, LA, daughter-in-law Cynthia Mannella, and caring grandfather of Giovanni, Marissa, Lauren, and Christopher Mannella. Graveside services with military honors for Bob will be held at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on Thursday, 11:00 A.M. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home no later than 10:00 A.M. for the procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Bob's memory to HPH Hospice, 2939 W.
