Helen F., 91 of Fredericksburg, passed away Wednesday February 20, 2013 at Carriage Hill Nursing Home.

Helen was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Harry G. and Edna H. Fahnle. She married Robert H. Dhonau on August 16, 1946.

She was a member of the Spotsylvania Presbyterian Church and was formerly a member of the Westwood First Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati.

Helen was a graduate of Western Hills High School and the University of Cincinnati. She worked as a pre-school teacher during WWII. She had a passion for history and as such worked as an interpreter at Sharon Woods Village and Hauck House in Cincinnati.

She loved to travel. She and her husband Bob traveled extensively to Europe. Music was another passion of Helen's. She sang in the choir and played the organ for Westwood First Presbyterian Church where she was a member for many years until she moved to Virginia.

Her greatest source of pleasure was spending time with her family and enjoying her grandchildren.

A photograph of Helen, "Choir Girl" taken by Stuart Kerr was entered into the 1939 New York World's Fair and displayed in the Kodak Pavilion.

Helen is survived by her two daughters, Virginia "Ginny" Clevenger and her husband, Jack of Fredericksburg and Janice Dhonau and her husband, Manfred Maurer of Maineville, Ohio; her son, Roger Dhonau and his wife, Laurie of Bradford Woods, PA; four grandchildren, Susan Allred, Dan Clevenger, Mike Dhonau and Eliza Dhonau; and two great-grandchildren, Camryn and Ainslie Allred. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Dhonau.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday March 1, 2013 at the Spotsylvania Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Alan Hager officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio.
