Joan (Verlie) SEMAN


Joan (nee Verlie) age 64, of Mason, OH, formerly of Cleveland, OH, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2012, at home surrounded by her family, after a courageous seven year battle with ovarian cancer. Born November 14, 1947, she was the daughter of Eve (Szahler) and the late Leonard Verlie Sr. She was preceded in death by her brother Leonard Jr. Joan will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife of nearly 45 years to Frank Seman and adoring mother to Jennifer (Rich) Allen, Cathy (Mike) Hall, Carrie (Kevin) Cooke and Jill (Aron) Price. She was a loving grandmother to seven grandchildren: Richie and Stephen Allen, Bryce, Mason and McKenna Hall, Ava and Avery Price, and to three step grandchildren: Jesse, Ben and Chloe Cooke. She is survived by three sisters: Terry (Neil) Griffith, Kathy (Butch) Dieckhoner, and Nancy (Joe) Mellott, three brothers: Tom (Sally), Frank (Fran) and Larry (Ramona) and two sister-in-laws: Anna (George) Lazar and Theresa (Steve) Beno and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Joan will be greatly missed by dear friends and family members. Joan was an active member of the St. Susanna Roman Catholic Church in Mason, OH. She was a Eucharistic Minister and provided communion service to assisted living residents at retirement communities. She also volunteered her time to provide bible study activities at a home for mentally and physically impaired children. Visitation will take place at the Hodapp Funeral Home 6410 Cincinnati-Dayton Rd., Liberty Twp., Tuesday October 2nd from 5PM until 8PM and at St. Susanna Church 616 Reading Rd. (Route 42), Mason, Wednesday October 3rd from 10AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM.
