Oxford - Matthew Clifford Schwan, beloved husband of Mary Lynn (nee Nadler) Schwan, loving father of Holly (Michael) Hill, Kyle (Heather) Schwan, and Bethany (Jimmy) Allen. Adoring grandfather of Cora, Josie, Olive, Alex, Clifford, Henry, Oskar and Gus. Also survived by his sister, Kristine (Mark) Anderson. Preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Vera Schwan. Passed away on January 4, 2021 at the age of 67. He loved God, his family and friends, a good challenge and great book. A visitation will take place at the Ogle and Paul R. Young Funeral Home, 5086 College Corner Pike, Oxford, Ohio 45056 on Friday, January 8, 2021 from 6pm until 9pm. The visitation will be limited to 25 guests at a time and masks are required. The funeral service will be private. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Immanuel Lutheran School, 1285 Main St., Hamilton, OH 45013 memo Matthew Schwan for a memorial in his name. Dear Schwan Family,
My sincere condolences to the entire family. Matt was a leader who marked my career for his charisma, dedication and love for his team.
As the only Latin American member of his team, he asked me to hold a management meeting in Guadalajara, Mexico, allowing me to present my Country very proudly. Since then, a whole region spoke of this event. Matt won the affection of Mexicans.
We will always remember and we will toast with a tequila in his honor.

Dear Lynn,
I’m so sorry to hear about Matt’s passing and like to convey my sincerest and heartfelt condolences to you and your family. As an ex Henkel/Cognis colleague, I got to know Matt in 1996 during a two week training program in France. He was, as Joe already mentioned, a special character in the very best sense - very likeable, confident and encouraging to others. I’m glad to see that he was able to spend time at a later stage with many grandchildren. Life is short. I believe he fully enjoyed it while he was among us and has passed this ability and much more to the next generations. God bless!

Dear Lynn and family,
We are so terribly grieved to hear of Matt's sudden death and pray for Gods grace in easing the enormous pain involved in losing his presence in your life. I cannot say enough about what an interesting person he was. The epitome of "cool" : with a seeming disinterest in power, money or status, but a great enthusiasm for new ideas, and adventures. The senior management corporate executive with bales of hay in the dining room and baby chicks incubating in the upstairs bathtub for transfer to the "retirement" venture. .."A farm??" The last time we saw Matt we were at your annual fourth of July fest at the farm. who else but Matt would spontaneously leave the party to provide a curious six year old with the memorable occasion of a private tour of the farm via his "gator", directing attention not only to the chickens and cows but to the "Mary Lynn" walking trail he had blazed through woods in your name.
I will always remember an image of a handsome grinning Matt dressed to the formal occasion of the retirement dinner that honored his corporate career, while on his feet were the cowboy boots of the maverick ready for his new adventure. We feel so blessed to have known him! You can count on our prayers for the sorrowful void of your loss.

My sincerest condolences to the entire family. I knew Matt really only through my brother Roger. Matt worked with my dad and it was special to hear stories about my dad from someone who had that kind of relationship with him. God keep you and bless you.
