David DUPEE Obituary

DUPEE David B., died on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 in Naples, Florida. He was born in Earlville, Illinois on March 30, 1916 to John A. Dupee and Hope B. Dupee. The family later moved to Freeport, IL. He attended Beloit College and the University of Wisconsin, where he was captain of the basketball team and All-Big-Ten in spite of having lost the sight in one eye during high school. He returned to Freeport to teach English and coach basketball. There he met his wife-to-be of 67 years, Katherine Ousley. In characteristic fashion, he never mentioned to her his impaired eyesight until it caused him to be deferred from military duty during WW II. In 1947 he began a career in business working for the U.S. Playing Card Company and the Heekin Can Company where he was vice president and a director. In 1967 he and his wife purchased the Cincinnati franchise of Olsten Staffing Services which he operated with his two sons until they sold the business in 2000. In an interview with the Cincinnati Enquirer he stated his ambition to "prove you could run a successful business based on Christian principles." In the minds of many, that dream became a legacy. The Dupees eventually became full-time residents of Naples, Florida, but never lost their love for, and interest in the city of Cincinnati. In addition to his beloved "Kat", he is survived by daughter, Douglass Louise Trumble (Tom) of West Hartford,CT; sons, David R. Dupee (Meg) of Cincinnati and Daniel J. Dupee (Carol) of Pittsburgh, PA. He is also survived by sisters Sarah Dupee, Betty Ferry (BIll) and Mary Ousley (Joe). He was predeceased by daughter, Deborah B. Dupee in 2006; and two brothers, Bob and Jack. A celebration service was held in Naples on November, 29.A reception will be held in Cincinnati at a later date. Memorials may be made to Cincinnati Habitat for Humanity, 201 E. 8th St., Cinti., OH 45202, or to a charity of choice.

To the Dupee Family,
I did not know your beloved Dave very well. However, it did not take a lifetime of knowing him to realize his love of family was a priority. His name was spoken often and lovingly by his grandaughter Laura. The memories of a lifetime will be passed on through his children, grandchildren and great children.
Our deepest sympathy to the family.
