Alyssa Renée LaRosa, age 29, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 12, 2018 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, after a long battle with Cystic Fibrosis and subsequently lung transplant rejection. Alyssa was a spokesperson for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Donate Life.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents Glenn and Josephine Barnhart, Frank & Jeanette (Provenzano) LaRosa; her aunt, Renee LaRosa, and her beloved dogs Bobear and Coco. Alyssa will be forever missed by her loving parents, Frank and Sue LaRosa; her brother, Tré LaRosa; her aunts, Marsha Bennett, Teresa Miller (Larry), Gina LaRosa (Dick Gordon), and Sherri LaRosa; her cousins, Jeremey Bennett, Chelsey Bennett, Mike Miller, Brian Miller, Kristin Eckels, Kristopher Eckels, Kasey Eckles, Jennifer Grieco, and Maria Grieco. She will always hold a special place in the heart of her dog Harley and her brother's dog, Duncan.
Alyssa was a prolific social media user and advocate for cystic fibrosis and organ donation. Through social media, Alyssa touched the lives of thousands of people. Whenever updating the world of her health, whether it was good news or bad news, Alyssa attached images of her in fashionable clothing. Her updates were always filled with hope, inspiring words, and vibrancy. Although some of these posts were oftentimes filled with unfortunate aspects, like daunting medical procedures or exasperating hospital stays, Lyss was guaranteed to look good doing it! Alyssa's ability to see the brightness of her world and never feel a bit of bitterness towards others through such a difficult life is the single best way to encapsulate such an unfortunately short life. She felt most comfortable shopping and talking about fashion or clothes, spending time by the pool and beach, laughing and having fun with friends and family, or dressing up her beloved Yorkies Coco and Harley in adorable outfits. She welcomed the chance to share her life with everybody she came into contact with. She will always be remembered for showing the world that appreciating life through the worst difficulties was possible.

I am sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what you are going through. With having two girls with cystic fibrosis, I hope I never have to walk in your shoes. Teisa and Teira genuinely cared about Alyssa. I have your family in my Prayers. I'm sure Alyssa is in heaven cheering with the angels.

Dear Frank, Sue, Trey and family,

We are so very sad to hear of Alyssa's passing. While due to distances between our homes we didn't have many opportunities to be with Alyssa over the years, we have always been inspired with her amazingly positive and courageous approach to living her life to its fullest.

Alyssa has touched so many people. Her efforts to promote CF awareness and her countless contributions to this extremely important cause will continue to inspire us all.

With our love and prayers
