Betty Jean Howell Obituary
Betty Jean Howell

Fort Mitchell, KY - Betty Jean Howell, age 94, of Fort Mitchell, KY passed away February 4, 2018. Mrs. Howell was pre-deceased by her husband, Capt. Robert E Howell (Ret.), her parents Lawrence and Beryl Siebenshuh, and brother, James E. Siebenshuh. She is survived by her 3 children, Robert JW Howell, Betty Cleeton (nee Howell), and Jennifer Trott (nee Howell). Mrs. Howell is the loving grandmother of Sarah Cleeton Schneider, Rebecca Cleeton, Alexandra Trott and Jacqueline Trott. She is the great grandmother of Oliver Schneider.

Mrs. Howell graduated in 1942 from Hughes High School in Cincinnati. She received her graduate diploma in nursing from the Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing in 1944. She went on to practice nursing at the Wm. Booth Memorial Hospital in Covington, KY, for 35 years, rising to Assistant Director of nursing, with many stints as acting director. She retired in 1998 but maintained close relationships with many colleagues and former employees. She was highly respected and beloved by all who worked for and with her.

Mrs. Howell was an accomplished cook and gourmet, frequently delighting her family and friends with her cuisine, a skill she passed on to her granddaughter, Jacqueline. She had a lifelong love of music and was a skilled pianist that influenced her granddaughter, Alexandra, also a pianist. In her retirement she maintained her hobby for gardening. One of her great loves was for traveling. She traveled widely, to Europe and the 4 corners of the nation. Her most cherished journeys were with her family. She particularly enjoyed her travels to Europe with her granddaughters, Sarah and Rebecca.

With a lot of experience and wisdom to share after retirement and at the suggestion of her son, Robert, who practiced child protection law, she joined the Kentucky Citizen Foster Care Review Board. A diligent and caring person, she materially contributed to the Board's mission of caring for children. For her efforts she was rewarded with the Outstanding Volunteer Award in the year 2000.

She will be remembered by her family and friends at a Celebration of Life at Drees Pavilion in Devou Park Saturday, February 10th, 2018 from 3PM - 5PM. All are welcome. Address: 790 Park Lane, Covington, KY 41011.

The interment, for family, will take place of Lebanon Cemetery in Lebanon, OH, Saturday, February 10th, at 11AM. Burial arrangements will be under the directions of Oswald-Hoskins Funeral Home of Lebanon OH.
