Madan Lal Ghai, PhD. Born October 4, 1923, in Rohtas, Punjab, India. He was the son of Rup Lal Ghai and Lilawati Ghai, beloved husband of Dolores Ann Yackle Ghai. Married February 26, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois. Father of 5 children. Rikesh Ghai, Dr. Pamela Combs, Sheila Revis, Mark Ghai, Krishan Ghai. Grandfather of Dr. Brian Revis, Michelle (Revis) Lemmon, and Dr. Cristen Kelly (Combs) Waespe, and Lila Ghai. Great grandfather of Jackson Revis, and Josie Lemmon Brother of Bal Krishan Ghai, Ramesh Ghai, (deceased) and Dr. Srasht Ghai Bhandari - in India. Graduated 1944 Benares Hindu University, India B.S. Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering - Lloyds College, England. Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Northwestern University, and Ph.D, Illinois Institute of Technology in Mechanical Engineering. Assistant Director of National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi, India 4 years. He was instrumental in developing practical uses for solar power such as solar cooker, refrigerator, and motors. His work was noted by the Prime Minister Nehru of India and received attention around the world. He immigrated to the United States in 1952, became Director of Research for Bush Manufacturing Company, West Hartford, Connecticut. Later he joined General Electric Company as Manager of Research. In 1956 he headed the Electric Propulsion Department, General Electric Company, Evendale, Ohio for 5 years. Worked on space research in electric propulsion for the Government military and NASA projects. He wrote more than 16 articles and contributed 3 Technical Chapters in Engineering text books. In 1961 he founded Space Dynamics Corporation with the steadfast help of his devoted wife. The company was involved in research for various space propulsion projects with NASA and the military. Later it developed industrial heat transfer equipment under the Ambassador Heat Transfer division. The company has continued for more than 52 years and is now headed by his sons and daughter. Ambassador is one of the leaders for Steam Condensers used in power plants supplying equipment worldwide. Memorial Services will be Sunday April 28, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Strawser Funeral Home 9503 Kenwood Rd Blue Ash, OH 45241. Friends may call at 1:00 PM until service at the funeral home.
