CINCINNATI - Scheid, Robert Paul Albert, "Bob," 92, of Delhi Hills, OH, beloved husband of the late Jean C. Scheid, passed peacefully at Chesterwood Village (long-term care) in West Chester, OH on February 7, 2021 supported by his loving family. Bob was born to Ray and Nellie (nee Ackerman) Scheid on October 10, 1928. In 1952, Bob married Jean Olberding and with those vows, galvanized his purpose that directed every aspect of his life from which he never wavered—family; his greatest love. Bob made being a dad and a husband a vocation; he was a natural. Bob's faith grounded his world daily; hence, he knew grace walked alongside him through blessings and trials. His connection with God showed itself most profoundly in his ability to recreate and appreciate beauty, in the big and small of life around him. The landscape in and around his home mattered deeply, and his love of creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, wherever he found himself, was one way he walked daily with God. His greatest passion was being on the water, and despite being landlocked his entire life, it never prevented him from pursuing it full-heartedly...fishing, boating, sailing. His heart and soul were at home there. A committed veteran, he served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army. His business degree from Xavier University prepared him to share in the ownership, success, and growth of Phototype Engraving until he retired at 69. In the years following, volunteering with the incarcerated through St. Xavier Church Prison Ministry satisfied his deep desire to give back and pay it forward.
Bringing those he loved together was fundamental to Bob's well-being, whether it was spearheading his high school reunions, planning adventures around the country with friends, or hosting gatherings close to home. He never underestimated the power of connection. Affable and easy going, generous and kind-hearted, there wasn't a day that Bob wasn't always "marginally fabulous." Want to make your day a little brighter? Bump into Bob Scheid. He soldiered on daily never leaving behind his faith, his optimism, and his lovable "Bob-isms," which will forever be part of his prodigious legacy. Bob was predeceased by his devoted wife of 68 years, Jean Carol (nee Olberding) Scheid (91), and leaves behind his five children: Anne (Ken Slavney) Scheid of Fresno, CA; Carol (Tim) Neichter of West Chester, OH; Margaret "Meg" (Patricia Bernier) Scheid of Bayside, NB Canada; Paul (Roslyn) Scheid of West Hartford, CT; and Mark (Jessica) Scheid of Madeira, OH. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Kevin Mullen, Chad and Curtis Neichter, Nicholas and Lauren Scheid, and Zachary, Jacob and Claire Scheid, as well as nine great grandchildren, Maddie, Joe, Luke, and Mark Mullen, Faith and Cora Neichter, and Timothy, Samuel, and William Neichter. Bob was predeceased by his siblings, Martha Murphy, Gordon Scheid, and Elizabeth Scheid. Due to COVID-19, a celebration of Bob's life will be planned for later this year.
