BUHRMAN Catherine "Cathy" Rorick Buhrman, 86, of Mullett Lake, died Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Hospice House in Cheboygan, Michigan. Cathy was born August 20, 1924 in Seneca, Michigan, at home on the family farm, the daughter of Curtis Kennedy and Ruth Lloyd Rorick. She attended the Rorick School, a one room school house, with her brothers and neighboring farm children. She graduated from Michigan State University where she became a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and developed friendships that lasted a lifetime. In later years the sisters enjoyed annual trips to various detinations around the country. She taught 7th and 8th grade English in East Lansing before moving to Detroit where she met her husband M. Olds Buhrman. They married December 15, 1951 and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1952, where she was a homemaker and her interests were many. She studied and loved art, architecture, history, current affairs along with decorating, gardening, entertaining, and various volunteer activities. After Olds' death in 1962, she devoted herself to raising their daughter, Florence Lloyd. While in Cincinnati, she was a member of the Indian Hill Church, and the Cincinnati Women's Club. In 1997, she moved full time to Mullett Lake, Michigan, where she had summered with the members of the Buhrman and Olds families for many years. She truly loved the area, where she made many new friends, and continued her life long nurturing of these relationships. She often said that " If you can't survive the winters, you don't deserve the summers". She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, the Cheboygan Hospital Auxiliary, and the Mullett Lake Country Club. Surviving are her daughter, Lloyd Buhrman Ricci, her son in law, Richard Ricci, brother, Marvin Rorick and his wife Luella, brother in law, Gerry Buhrman and his wife Suzanne, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, M.Olds Buhrman in 1962, two brothers, John Rorick and Herbert Rorick, and a granddaughter, Catherine Olds Ricci. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 11:00 am, with visitation beginning at 10:00 am, St. James Episcopal Church. Rev. Bill McClure will officiate, burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery in Ann Arbor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mullett Lake Area Preservation Society (MAPS), P.O.
