Paul Bang was a fixture in my life. He attended my baptism when i didn't even know who he was. He taught the ysa Sunday school class when i was a leader. He gave me my patriarchal blessing. I had the great privilege and honor to have him preside at my marriage in the Chicago Temple.

My mother, to her dying day spoke about the time that Paul and Stan Fish came to the house and did some repairs as service.(and back then, she didn't even like the church.) I'm. so going to miss him. To me, he exemplified truly what the gospel really was\is. I'm honored to have had him in my life.

Bishop Bang of the Cincinnati 2nd Ward was my priesthood leader when I was a priest and then, in 1966, the one who interviewed me to be ordained an elder and to serve a mission. I knew he loved me. And I love him. He was as fine an example of discipleship as I have ever known. I was able to visit with him this past November when I was in Mesa, AZ when my mother passed away. Paul spoke of how much he missed Connie. I am happy for them--enduring well, leaving a legacy and graduating with honors!

I will always remember the wonderful experience I had when I received my patriarchal blessing from Patriarch Bang. He was an amazing, gifted, and spiritual servant of The Lord. Thank you for your great example and influence. May The Lord bless your family as you have greatly blessed mine and many others.

Patriarch Paul Bang: A giant among the great Sequoias has slipped through the veil. He was great here, and he is great there! He will be great throughout the eternities. Words cannot adequately express how he has influenced my life for the better. He baptized me. He gave me my Patriarchal Blessing. He ordained me an elder. I cannot say enough good about this wonderful man. He was humble, wise, faithful, loyal, and obedient. It's interesting how the name of "Captain Moroni" slips into my mind. So farewell, my dear Patriarch, until we meet again. Thank you! (PS: Say "Hi" to Connie for me! She is great, too!)

What an influence Patriarch Bang had on my life, as a Bishop, Patriarch, and example of Gospel living. He was always kind, sincere, and when he spoke, you knew he was that close to the spirit. May all of the family feel the love of those who were privileged to know him.

Dear Bang Family,
Sorry we can't be there today to celebrate the life of this great man. We suspect he has a front row seat up there and has a large gathering of loved ones greeting him. All of us are better people for rubbing shoulders with him. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of your family today.

Remembering Patriarch Paul Bang: I always enjoyed listening to his talks in Sacrament meeting. I will miss his peaceful voice, understanding heart and guidance. He was truly a Latter-Day Saint. I am thankful for every conversation we had, will always remember going to his home to receive my Patriarchal Blessing, which has been a great gift to me. He was such an example and inspiration to me and my family. Matthew 5:16 is truly about Brother Bang. He was a warrior of truth and righteousness! Thoughts and prayers to the family. He will be greatly missed.

In the summer of 1959 I worked at the Standard Lumber Company in Covington, KY as a 16 year old. There was always work to do around the lumber yard. At noon time, I would eat lunch with Uncle Pete. He always had a lunch packed by Aunt Connie, and there was always a love note tucked into his lunch that he savored more than the food. As we ate he educated me in the spiritual arts fo the gospel of Jesus Christ. He had a deep humility, and testimony of the gospel and practised it daily. I left Cincinnati later that summer and didn't see Uncle Pete for 22 years after that. When I returned to Cincinnati and walked into the Norwood Chapel and saw him again in 1981, I hugged him tight and wept on his shoulder. I knew I was embracing a true servant of God who had, by his life and example become a celestial spirit that was privileged to still be here on our mother earth. What a great Uncle he was to me.

Patriarch Bang was the most kind decent man I believe I have ever met. He had such a life changing impact upon me and my family. He was a true Saint in every sense of the word. The world is a colder more lonely place with his passing.

Brother Paul Bang was a blessing to my family. He helped my parents when they joined the church as he was their first bishop. He will not be forgotten.
