My dear friend Joan, high school buddy, college classmate, friend through all the years of our lives since then, will be sorely missed. Her kindness, thoughtfulness, support on so many occasions, her prayers always, will never be forgotten. Our sympathy and love goes to all her family.

I only met Joan a few years ago in Naples, Fl where she participated in the aqua class that I taught, we "hit it off" immediately. Her laugh was infectious and she shared so much about her family, I feel like I know each of you. Tom, thank you for sharing her with us. My prayers are with you and your family at this time

I'm glad that the picture has that happy smile that I remember seeing so often when we were at Marymount, NYC. Joan brought a lot of her Irish spirit into our lives over the years and she will be missed but not forgotten when we assemble.

Joan was simply a wonderful woman who brought a beautiful smile and joyful spirit to VCC water aerobics. She will be sorely missed. Our prayers for God's comfort are with you! Jan Barone, Zanesville,Ohio

Joan will be missed at Vanderbilt! Her smile and enthusiasm was a joy to all who knew her. I was fortunate to attend water aerobics with her. She always worked hard--was the only one who wore the blue resistance gloves. Last year I bought a pair of those gloves--never wore them, but in my bag I have those gloves and will keep them there to remember sweet Joan!! God bless!

My earliest memories are of my sister Joan who was a beautiful smiling baby with a large curl in the middle of her forehead. I started the first grade a week after she was born and shortly after was able to win a first prize, choosing a large doll. It actually drew a laugh I had not heard before. She always seemed to communicate inspiration, encouragement and happiness, which continued and grew after she married Tom. A large part of my heart has gone with her and only prayers seem to reconnect me. You all have my love in your bereavement.
