WUENKER
Lorraine Alice Wuenker died peacefully on August 27, 2015 surrounded by loving family. Lorraine was born the daughter of Evan and Jeanette Lakeman on Dec. 3, 1933. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelors Degree in Education, and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. After college, Lorraine taught at Colerain High School. In 1957 she married James A. Wuenker, her husband of nearly 58 years. While raising her two children, daughter Karen and son Jeff, she worked and volunteered for several organizations, including the Forest Hills School Board, Stepping Stones and Knox Presbyterian Church. In 1984, Lorraine started the Stephen Ministry program at Knox; training congregation members to provide one-on-one Christian care to those in times of need. After retiring in 2000, she relished her full-time role as wife, mother and grandmother, while continuing to volunteer in mentoring and caring capacities, touching and positively influencing countless lives as she always did. Lorraine is survived by husband Jim, children Karen and Jeff, grandchildren Ben and Bryn Wirthlin, and brother Richard Lakeman. A Memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers for the family, donations will be accepted for either the Knox Presbyterian Church (Stephen Ministry or Mission Committee) or to the National / Cincinnati Kidney Foundation (
