Mary Lou (nee Barnhorn) beloved wife of the late Gene Smith, loving mother of Steve and Scott (Samara) Bay, dear grandmother of Kristin and Tyler Bay; Bret and Robert Bay, sister of Kathy (the late Mike) Padgett, Bob (Chi Chi) Barnhorn and Joe (Holly) Barnhorn. Passed away Wednesday October 19, 2016 at age 73. Visitation at St. Ignatius Church, 5222 North Bend Rd., Monfort Hgts., Saturday Oct. 22, from 10:30 until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society or Hospice of Southwest Ohio. Condolences at:

Mary was my second mom! I am forever blessed and grateful to have been in her life! Steve and Scott are my family! I wish we could reconnect someday! All my love to Mary and her family! One thing I can leave is the story about me asking Mary to borrow cookies as a very young boy!❤

Mary Lou has been our neighbor and friend for a very long time and we will miss her very much. It has been a privilege to know h to share breakfast and lunch with her over the years as we tried different restaurants and small cafes. It was our plan to have our dining outings again this summer while she was on her vacation from school, but that was not to be. During the past several months we have been getting her vanilla shakes which she seemed to look forward to and enjoy.
Mary Lou was a dedicated teacher and educator. Her contributions in educating so many young people over the years made a great impact on many, many lives. She found much joy in her school work and she will be missed at St. Gabriel.
Rest in peace, friend. Our sincere sympathy to your family.
