Cincinnati - Lowell P. Orr, Jr. Beloved husband of Dorothy "Dottie" Orr (Reed) for 23 years. Loving father of Steven (Deb) Orr, Nancy Orr, and Tom (Sherri) Orr. Devoted grandfather of Quinn (Emily Wages) Orr, Claire (Tom) Mahony, Annie Orr, Alex Orr, and Bobby Orr. Adored great-grandfather of Harper Lowell Mahony. Passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at the age of 94. Lowell was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Margaret Orr, Sr., sister, Margaret Orr Carr, and his wife Betty Jo Orr (nee Bigler), who he was married to for 46 years. Lowell was a 1944 graduate of Norwood High School and a 1948 graduate of the University of Cincinnati. In between, he participated in WWII in Army Intelligence and learned Japanese at Yale University. Lowell worked with his father in the family advertising business, Jaap-Orr Co., in the American Building in downtown Cincinnati. The business later moved to the Germania Building at 12th and Walnut and was the oldest advertising company in the city operating under the same name. After retiring from advertising, Lowell continued to manage the Germania Building. Lowell and Dottie met at the University of Cincinnati in the late 1940's and married in 1997 after Betty's death. Together, Lowell and Dottie spent many happy years surrounded by their extended family, frequenting a variety of sporting and cultural events, and regularly traveled both domestically and internationally. Lowell devoted his time to many activities including photography, tennis, and computer technology, and loved watching his kids and grandkids participate in sports, music and theater events. He went to an estimated 65 Reds Opening Days. Following in his Dad's footsteps, he enjoyed attending the Cincinnati Symphony and Pops. A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Lowell's life. Interment Spring Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church, The Shriner's Hospital for Children, and The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra/Pops.
