Joanne Bauer Obituary
Beloved wife of the late Martin J. Bauer for 72 years. Loving mother of the late Maureen Knupp, Marianne Dougherty (Tom Kelsch), the late Martin D. Bauer, Mark Bauer (Dede), Melissa Smith (the late Garry), and Michael Bauer (Kira). Caring grandmother to 15, great-grandmother to 20, great-great grandmother to 2. Joanne was born in Cincinnati to her parents, Omer and Marian (Weiglein) Spear on February 20, 1928 and passed away peacefully surrounded by family Thursday, April 15, 2021 at the age of 93. The family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to The Barrington of Oakley and Crossroads Hospice for their compassion. And a special thanks to all the private aides, especially Jessica Jackson. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 28, 11:00 AM at St. Cecilia Church. Mass can be viewed online at stceciliacincinnati.org and select Live Stream Masses. The family will greet family and friends at 10:00 AM prior to mass. Memorials may be directed to Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation (SMHF), IMO Joanne Bauer,1515 S. Osprey Avenue, Suite B-4, Sarasota, FL 34239-2918. I have very fond childhood memories of Aunt Joanne. I remember all the family gatherings at the big house on Edwards Rd. Since there were 3 cousins born the same year, First Communions, graduations, and many other family events were celebrated together. Aunt Joanne always had lots of food! We always had a fun time with all our cousins at Aunt Joanne's house!

My condolences to all of the family. I remember playing at her house, when you lived on Edwards Road. Also remember her Mom, and the jewerly store. I still have a ring from there. Also knew other Bauer family members. Cheryl Nelson Stephenson
