Canton - Lucille Towe Buchanan, age 93, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Vernon Fred and Ethel Hendricks Towe. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Robey Lee Buchanan, who died in 2010; five sisters, Aileen Hicks; Dorothy Robinson, Nell Taylor, Annabelle Robinson; and Helen Swanger; and a brother, Fred Towe. She was a charter member of Canton Church of God and attended Candler Church of God. Lucille loved sewing, quilting, crocheting, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Wilde of Canton; two sons, Ronald Buchanan and his wife, Judy, of Hickory and Max Buchanan and his wife, Patsy, of North Augusta, South Carolina; a sister, Betty Burrell and her husband, Brownlow, of Canton; four brothers, James and Henry Towe both of Candler; Bill Towe and his wife, Anne, of Arkansas and Frank Towe and his wife, Gerlene, of Florida; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 28, 2013 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Dr. Robin Wilde officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
