Maybelle "Tobi"
Teeple
Maggie Valley - Maybelle (Tobi) Hulin Lane Teeple, 85, passed away November 30, 2012. She was born in Daytona Beach and grew up in Jacksonville. She was wife to Albert (Rocky) Lane and to Robert Teeple (both deceased), and the mother of Michael Lane (deceased) and Buddy Bageant. She leaves behind grandson Donny Bageant, and six children, seven grand-children, and three great grand-children by marriage.
In her final days, the spirits of "Grams" Tobi were boosted greatly by visits with family members Keith Lane, Shannon Martin as well as her daughters Madison and Jesse. She had a special bond with her longtime caregivers Janet Laurain, Christine Ryan, and Judy Mills, as with family members Tina Bageant and Patsy Luense. Tobi herself had been a principal caregiver to her husbands, to her mother and father, and to her Grandfather Ring.
In Jacksonville she graduated from Landon High and worked with family members at Hulin Bookkeeping & Income Tax. She was a member of Swaim Memorial Methodist Church, and later the Assumption Catholic Church. In 1984 Tobi moved to Maggie Valley N.C. where she was an active member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church, and attended the Maggie Valley Baptist Church. Tobi was a member of the Maggie Valley Woman's Club. She participated in The Shepherds Table at Maggie Valley Methodist Church, and she hosted Tuesday morning Bible study. She dearly loved her many friends and family members, as they did love and will truly miss her. She was fond of lighthouses and gardening, and she loved her mountain creek.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2012 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Ricky Mason and Father Richard Benonis officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

My memories of Aunt Tobi is a warm, soft spoken woman, who loved life and people. I visited Aunt Tobi and Uncle Rocky in Jacksonville Fl a few times and always had a great time. My first motorcycle ride was on a small scooter on that very property. This year you are spending Christmas with lots of family that were waiting for you. Say Hi to all of them from your neice, Erin Wise (Shaner)..Loved you in life, now R.I.P.

Mom Tobi! It's hard to imagine not seeing you on my caller id or pushing the number in the auto-dial to say hi. That pink mu-mu from Hawaii made for lots of smiling conversations! I'm glad you got to see pictures of the new puppy - not quite as exciting for you as 2-legged great grandbabies! I miss you and know you're getting the First Class tour of Heaven with Daddy and Michael and Lupe and many others!

Tobi was a gem. She sparkled and touched all that knew her. Her brilliance radiated her faith encouraging you to search for a stronger faith yourself. The radiance of her smile and that laugh when she said "I Love It" made you remember to live life and be happy. Tobi my dear sweet friend we will all miss you , but the Lord needed his jewel in his crown. Prayers and strengh to all.

I have so many wonderful memories of my Grandmother AKA Grams while growing up. As a child I called her Nanny and Grandpa Rock "Paw Paw". My parents would drop me off to spend the weekend. On Friday nights we would watch DALLAS while eating strawberry ice cream and pringles chips. LOVED IT. On Saturdays we would clean house and do errands but they always made it so fun. On Sundays my grams would run around town getting everyone to mass one of her first stops would by Taylor Home. Grandpa and I would go to Dunkin Donuts that we would take to the reception hall at Assumption Catholic Church and sell between masses. As a young adult they would come watch me play softball at Drew Park, always honking the horn from centerfield parking lot when I made a good play. When they moved Maggie Valley, NC we made many memories at GHOST TOWN IN THE SKY and down by the creek. I was so blessed to be able to spend so much time with my Grams over the past few years and the last few weeks. My last favorite memory was taking her to the cemetery, cleaning all the markers, her grandparents, her parents, her husbands and her sons while putting out Christmas Poinsettias. After that we went to Gene's Seafood to eat. It was a glorious day. I love you and miss you terribly Grams. You are the best GRANDMOTHER a child could have. Thank you for your kindness and unconditional love..... I LOVE YOU MORE.

I was 13 years old when I met Tobi, her mother, father, Buddy and Michael. I will always remember Tobi as a wonderful kind person who taught me to sew. She was so proud of me and the apron that I did. The way you treat a child is the way they will always remember you. She was so kind to every person that she ever met. I am 65 years old and Tobi has always had a place in my heart. I never did forget this lady and I never will. Love you Tobi
