Bruce Jamerson Obituary

Bruce Don

Jamerson

Weaverville - Bruce Don Jamerson, 84, of Weaverville, went to be with the Lord on January 23, 2013. He died peacefully in his home.

Mr. Jamerson was born December 1, 1928, to the late Asbury and Dessie Jamerson. Bruce spent his life in service to God. He was a dedicated Christian who loved reading and studying his Bible, spending time with family, helping others, and teaching Sunday School. His steadfast church work began early in life as a member of Beech Glen Baptist Church and later Deaverview Baptist Church. He then continued as an active supporter of Victory Baptist Church, North Asheville Baptist Church and Firstborn Baptist Church.

After graduating from Mars Hill High School, Bruce served in the United States Air Force, then worked for Winn-Dixie for over forty years where he retired. His many talents included farming, mechanics, singing, playing the fiddle and guitar. He was a loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed, remembered, and cherished.

In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by five brothers, Kyle, Coye, Grey, Don, and Kermit Jamerson and three sisters, Vera Rice, Marie Jamerson, and Genevieve Clay.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Carolyn Robinson Jamerson; sons, Gary, Jeffery and his wife, Sonna; daughters, Dianne Jamerson, and Darlene Jamerson Swanson and her husband, The Reverend Ken Swanson; two grandchildren, Brandon and Tiffany Jamerson; and sister, Eileen Graham and her husband, Jim; and many special nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, January 26, 2013, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Jamerson officiating, with a graveside service to follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:30 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Firstborn Baptist Church, P.O. Box 2363, Weaverville, NC 28787, or CarePartners, 68 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28803.

The Jamerson family wishes to extend unending gratitude to the staff of CarePartners for their immeasurable care, aid and support during the last two years of Bruce's life, and a special thank you to Ryan Conrad.

"I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Abide in me, and I in you. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love." John 15

Dianne, our dear friend thru the GRACE RIDGE chapel--
Your phone call on Wednesday morning with the notice of your father's death certainly did communicate his and your thrilling hope in the Lord Jesus! Eleanor and I recall lunches with you where you expressed the joy you have in your parents. May you and the Jamerson family be blessed with God's constant presence and steadfast love. In the Resurrected Lord is the fullness of JOY.
