Kirt Grayson
Asheville - Kirt Grayson, 79, a long time resident of Asheville, passed away suddenly Monday morning, May 6, 2013.
He was in the Armed Forces during the Korean war and served the country he loved admirably.
A multi-faceted man, Kirt had many talents. He was a successful businessman, artist, wood carver, painter, and in more recent years, author. A devoted father, grandfather and a much loved husband, he will be greatly missed and remembered as a good man of honor.
His interests were eclectic and varied. He loved astronomy and published a book of telescopic images from the Hubble Telescope, which included many of the images he enhanced with his own creation. Vowing to never stop learning, he stayed true to that pledge. His fountain of knowledge was greatly admired, and yet he remained a humble man.
Surviving are his loving wife of 34 years, Joan Grayson; two daughters, Dawn Dreibus and her husband, Jeff of Nebo, NC and Rebecca Grayson of West Palm Beach, FL; three step-children, Greg Friedman of Asheville, Lynda Zises and Brent Friedman and his wife, Odelia all of Boca Raton, FL; four grandchildren, Emily Wattez and her husband, Tim of West Hollywood, CA, Evan McMahon of Dallas, TX, Melody McMahon and Matanel Friedman both of Boca Raton, FL; brother, George Goldstein and his wife, Katherine of Lake Wales, FL and a sister-in-law, Barbara Closman of Boca Raton, FL.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Riverside Cemetery, 53 Birch Street with Wolfe Alterman officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
