Clarence Arthur Chandler, Sr.

Weaverville - Clarence Arthur Chandler, Sr. 88, of Weaverville, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013 at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville.

Mr. Chandler was born October 2, 1925 in Madison County and was a resident of the NC State Veteran's Home. Clarence was a charter member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church and a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He worked in various local businesses including Deal Buick as Service Manager.

Mr. Chandler was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Mabel Edwards Chandler; his wife, Lillian Young Chandler; and a daughter, Shirly Chandler Garvais.

Surviving are his son, Clarence Arthur Chandler, Jr. of Alexander; daughters, Sheila Chandler Amick of Honduras and Teresa Chandler Honeycutt (Billy) of Rutherfordton; sister, Annette Winter of Saint Johns, FL; brother, Jimmy Chandler (Barbara) of Greensboro; sister-in-law, Nelle Young Mills of Asheville; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

A Memorial service will be held at 12 noon Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with Reverend Billy Honeycutt officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Village Parkway Baptist Church, 3002 Village Parkway, San Antonio, TX 78251, Attn: Gina Short for Sheila Amick Ministry.
