Betty Carolyn Norman Moody

Arden - A good life should be celebrated not mourned.

Betty Carolyn (Norman) Moody, 87, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Advent Health Hospital.

A native of Marion, Betty was a daughter of the late Jefferson Clifton and Vessie Viola (Brooks) Norman. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Leonard Clinton Moody, who passed away in 2012 and 7 of her siblings.

She was a longtime member of Arden First Baptist Church, where she served many ministries singing in the choir in the early days to, perhaps her favorite activity, welcoming the members and visitors each Sunday with her "bag of candy". A deep faith in Christ was the anchor of her life. The best way to honor her life is to remember a time she welcomed you at church, served you coffee and desserts while you visited her home or comforted you in a time of need. Do the same for someone else.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Donna Arthur (Charlie), Len Moody (Susan), and Linda Cushman (Jack); grandchildren, Aaron Arthur (Michelle), Jeremy Arthur (Joy), Chelsie Nielsen (Bryan), Jordan Cushman (Kara) and Rachel Moody; great grandchildren, Joanna Arthur, Jesse Arthur, Millie Arthur, Evelyn Nielsen, Linnaea Nielsen, and Joelle Cushman; and siblings Jeanne Hensley, J.C. Norman (Connie), Loree Poteat and Elaine Kask (Larry).

Due the current pandemic restrictions and concerns, a private graveside service will be held for the family. At a later date, a celebration of life will be held for those wishing to participate.

The family requests donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to Arden First Baptist Church, 3839 Sweeten Creek Rd., Arden, NC 28704.
