Hildebran - Conley Ralph Rudisill, 92, of Hildebran, passed away Thursday February 1, 2018 at his residence following a period of declining health.

Mr. Rudisill was born in Catawba County to the late Elmer Wayne Rudisill and Bertha Rhoney Rudisill. He entered the Navy in April of 1944 in Jacksonville, FL then to Deland Naval Air Base and on to Miami. From there he went to Galveston, TX boarding the USS Wautauga Tanker carrying aviation fuel. He then went to Panama Canal Zone, then to California, and on to Hawaii, and Pearl Harbor. He served with the 3rd Fleet in the South Pacific alongside the USS North Carolina and the Texas battle ships. He was on a number of Islands in the Pacific including Midway, Wake, Johnston, Siapan, and Guam. He was then on Tinian Island, where the B-29's took off with bombs for Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Also he was in Iwo Jima after the battle ended. After the war he attended Lenoir-Rhyne College and worked for General Electric for over 30 years. His favorite hobby was gardening.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Bonnie Bowman, and his brother-in-law, Loyd Bowman.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Evans Rudisill of the home; their children, Darrell Rudisill and wife Denise of Winterville,NC; Junay Hickey and husband Pat of Asheville; and Nelson Rudisill and wife Merri of Rutherford College; his grandchildren, Patrick Hickey, Jr., Tuesday Sigmon and husband Jon, Shae Rudisill, Brian Hickey, and Landon Rudisill; his great-grandchildren, Annelise Sigmon, Madeline Sigmon, Harrison Sigmon, Anderson Sigmon, Emma Rudisill, and Elsie Rudisill. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 P.M. Saturday February 3, 2018 in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Tom Nussbaum, Wanda Skilbred and Chaplain Mike Costner officiating. Interment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park with military honors by the United States Navy and the Caldwell County Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
