David Trebilcock Obituary
David C.

Asheville - David C. Trebilcock, 52, of Asheville, passed away suddenly on Friday, June 21.

Born in Houghton, Michigan, David was raised in South Miami, Florida, graduating from South Miami High School in 1980. David, a talented builder, founded Elk Mountain Renovations and completed home construction projects around Asheville. Whether a new deck project or a complete kitchen remodel, he approached each home renovation with a creative eye and genuine love of the craft.

David could fix anything. If something was broken, he was the one to call. The more difficult the repair, the more he enjoyed it.

He was an avid mechanic who combined his love of automobiles with a desire to help others by retrofitting passenger vans for better wheelchair access. He also used his mechanical expertise in the 1980's, when he helped build a grand prix race car that competed in the inaugural Miami Grand Prix.

David, a strict vegetarian most of his adult life, supported local organic farmers and health food stores. He also enjoyed studying nutrition and health, and was the go-to guy in his family for advice on mineral supplements or holistic treatments.

He enjoyed exploring nature and the environment in North Carolina, especially with his two children - Lia, age 11, and Kevin, age 10 - whom he adored. His children were his rays of sunshine - and he enjoyed gardening, hiking, fishing and so much more with them. He was proud of all their accomplishments and successes, and cherished every moment spent with them.

He is survived by his two children who reside with their mother, Beth, in Asheville. He is also survived by his loving parents, Michael & Geraldine Trebilcock of Flagler Beach, FL; four brothers, Christopher (Clara) and Michael, both of Miami, FL, Mark (Claudia) of Saugus, CA, and Norman (Lisa) of Naples, FL. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, as well as two great-nephews. He leaves behind many supportive friends in Marshall, Asheville, and South Miami.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 29, at 2 PM at the Asheville Area Alternative Funeral Home Chapel located at 702 Riverside Drive, Asheville, NC 28801. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his children's educational fund at Lia & Kevin Trebilcock Educational Fund at Bank of America, 1722 W Leland #2, Chicago, IL 60640.
