Robert "Bobby" Carroll
Asheville - Game Wardens, security at Biltmore Estate, and other wildlife in Western North Carolina may finally relax. Robert (Bobby) Carroll Burris, Jr., has retired forever from this world of poaching, runnin' moonshine, drinkin', spittin', and other general bad behavior. Now, he and his Heavenly Father, hunt bear in the rugged and mountainous parts of Heaven. Many family, friends and dogs greet him and he is preceded by his father, Robert Carroll Burris, Sr., and his mother, Ann Stanton Burris.
Bobby is survived by his sister, Rebecca Burris Moses, and her sons, Austin and Avry Moses, his daughter, Laura Ann Burris, and her daughter Bailey, and his wife, Catherine Hubbard Burris, and his knife and gun-loving step-sons, Dylan Robert Soutter, AJ Soutter, and Paul Daniel Soutter.
Bobby was a graduate of Enka High School, a member of West Asheville Masonic Lodge 665, and the central figure in Corinne Gerwe's novel, Blood Runs Cold on the Black Side of the Mountain. As a descendant of Rooster Cogburn, between the drinking and the lying, surely the angels will be laughing and crying in Heaven tonight.
Bobby left us after a second battle with cancer at age 52, to fight no more.
